CWMDA ends sponsorship of WMS, SIBO PDF Print E-mail

The Board of the Canadian Woodworking Machinery Distributors Association (CWMDA) have announced they will not renew their sponsorship of the Salon Industriel du Bois Ouvré (SIBO) and Woodworking Machinery and Supply Expo (WMS) trade shows. The two biennial shows, located in Laval, Que., and Toronto respectively, are owned by Vance Communications Canada.

In addition to sponsorship, member companies of the CWMDA have also decided not to exhibit at SIBO 2010 which is scheduled to take place October 21-23. In a press release, the association says doing so will allow them to “focus their resources in areas that they believe will more directly benefit their customers during the current economic downturn”. CWMDA members include Akhurst Machinery Limited, Giben America Inc., Holz-Her Canada Inc., Homag Canada Inc., SCM Group Canada, Normand Machinery and Taurus Craco Woodworking Machinery Inc.

The announcement comes on the heels of other big trade show news. Recently, several companies announced they would not exhibit at this year's IWF.
