A recently completed gothic-style library with its pointed arches, sculptural decoration and Green Man columnar capitals, is just one example of the precise and intricate work Meadowcroft creates using the software and his Precix CNC. Aside from his innate talent, his finesse at using CAD-based software is born from the 20-plus years he spent in the corporate world writing programs designed to work with AutoCAD.  
 

Two years ago, when the urge struck to express himself on a large scale with carving, he founded his Calgary, Alta.-based business, Meadowcroft Heirloom Billiards. Since then, in addition to building beautifully carved billiard tables, he enjoys working on a commission basis crafting a variety of projects such as the library.
 

The infinite ability to manipulate shapes is why Meadowcroft chose Delcam’s software to bring his creations to life. “What sold me was the two rail sweep which allows you to create the elements you want to carve with flowing precision. You can do all manner of things to make the object fit the ultimate shape you want to create — and that is the biggest power of creating objects or shapes in ArtCAM.”
 

Using the software, Meadowcroft hopes to design a line of cabinet doors featuring small scale carvings — a venture that is made possible through the use of his Delcam software and CNC.
