1. Machining software

CNC Software, Inc. introduces its new machining software, Mastercam Router. Nesting drag and drop support allows you to perform automatic nesting with just enough manual intervention to achieve the best possible result in the least amount of time. The drag button lets you move parts around on the sheet. This action supports the drag, rotate, and snapping functionality. Another new feature is the ability to automatically generate a toolpath for vertical and horizontal cut-offs.

2. Machining designs

In ArtCAM 2010, Delcam has incorporated some of the machining strategies from its CAM system, PowerMILL.There is now even greater automation in ArtCAM Insignia and Pro for machining designs imported as layered DXF or PDF files from other CAD systems by using ArtCAM’s improved ‘Toolpath Templates’ and with ArtCAM 2010’s new machining strategies, V-bit carving and 2D Texturing. Both of these techniques remove large areas of material quickly while creating highly efficient cutting patterns that add textures or exotic patterns to designs.

3. CAD/CAM software

Alphacam 2010 R1, CAD/CAM software, brings a redesigned and enhanced user interface including enhanced toolbar customization and user-definable hotkeys. Other enhancements include improved 3D Z Contour Roughing, simple 2½D exact, and more. Machining Styles functionality has been added to all Essential modules. The Raster to Vector Add-In and the ability to batch program and nest Autocad DXF files through the CAD to CAM 2.0 Add-In, previously available as additional cost items, are now included in all levels of Alphacam.

4. Door and drawer

KCD’s new Doors Plus software makes custom doors, drawer fronts, panels, wine racks, pilasters, valances, dovetail drawers, and more. It comes in both traditional and MDF/CNC versions. All versions feature "Smart Door Technology".  This new technology allows the user to simply define the overall product shape and the software does the rest, adjusting for different sizes and special situations. This lets the user easily produce technically difficult products in custom sizes making it ideal for the custom door and drawer manufacturer.  KCD Doors Plus ships with over 300 ready to use designs.

5. Fall release

The latest release of ArtCAM, 2010 from Delcam is set to be released this fall. Features will include a new modernized graphical user interface, direct interactivity and improvement to the core performance.  As with previous versions, ArtCAM development continues to be designed around minimizing the workflow so even beginners to CNC Technology can start using the program as quickly as possible.
