Patented for window production, the RipTec system from Leitz Tooling decreases blow-out on end-grain machining and creates a stronger joint, sealed against water and air penetration. Also used in conjunction with finish planers on four-sided moulders, RipTec virtually eliminates plucked grain in difficult-to-machine woods. When machining curved parts, combination finish knives plus RipTec knives prevent chipping and increase knife performance by as much as 50%.

MultiCam has introduced automatic dull tool detection capabilities to its line of routers. After setting the normal current draw at the time a new tool is calibrated, the user can set a high current limit. Once the high current limit has been reached and maintained for a continuous period of time, the machine will pause and prompt the user to change the tool.
