Bridge nesting is a unique process that increases cutting efficiency, reduces tool wear, maintains part precision and helps reduce the risk of small parts moving. This nesting method consists of the machine plunging the tool only once to cut out the entire sheet of parts while maintaining the chosen direction of cut. Face 6 involves programming the machine to perform all the operations on one side of the sheet, then cutting one long edge and one short edge of the sheet to square it off. The entire sheet is flipped, re-positioned using the two edges that were cut square and a second program is run which performs all the reverse side operations and then finishes cutting out all the parts using your preferred nesting method. In this video from Peter Mate, we look at traditional nesting, a method that treats each part as its own. It drives the CNC to plunge into the material cut around the contour of the first part, retract up out of the material then move to the next part and plunge back in and repeat the process. This is done for each part that’s nested on the sheet. [More] [Less]
