Woodworking magazine takes great pride in the quality of its content and we strive to publish the most newsworthy information and original content in our pages and online.
Unfortunately an article published in our May/June issue did not meet these criteria and we want to set the record straight.
Over the past few years Woodworking magazine and FPInnovations have collaborated in delivering valuable information about our industry in an effort to share knowledge and expertise with you. FPInnovations works with many highly qualified experts in the field and the columns written by their team have generated much positive feedback and discussion. Unfortunately an article by FPInnovations’ Norman Smith, which was submitted to us and published in the May/June edition of Woodworking magazine, did not meet that standard of originality.
The article relied heavily on information from an article published on Great Woodworking Ideas’ website, but did not credit the original authors.
FPInnovations has taken full responsibility and said that:
“The intent was to recognize the source of the information within the text, which is the norm for FPInnovations’ media collaborators. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, this was not done in this case and for that, we sincerely apologize.”
“FPInnovations has also launched an internal inquiry, led by its Human Resources Director, to redress the situation and bring appropriate corrective measures.”
The article has been removed from our website and we are reviewing our requirements and criteria with FPInnovations to ensure the highest quality and professional conduct.
