Blum is expanding office and showroom space at its Mississauga head offices
Blum Canada is making a significant financial investment expanding its Mississauga head offices.
General Manager Kevin Tratt says the company is doubling the size of its offices and showroom space to better meet customers’ needs and create more room for the growing business. “We have outgrown our present offices and need to create more showroom space as well. We are also adding a technical centre to demonstrate and teach the installation of our latest products,” Tratt says.
Blum manufactures hinges, drawer systems, and other related fittings for the kitchen cabinet and furniture industry. Work on the expansion began in August and should be completed later this spring. Blum has been at its Pacific Circle address since 1987 and that’s not changing.
But after a major warehouse expansion there in 2007, it is now time to grow again. The old showroom and offices in the front of the building have been torn down and staff has moved into temporary offices inside the warehouse. Blum is doubling front office and showroom space to 10,000 sq. ft.
As far as customer service is concerned, Tratt says everything will be business as usual. “Our customers won’t notice any change while the work is being done,” he says. “The construction will not affect any of our regular operations.” The project represents a substantial investment in the Canadian market and our commitment to that market, Tratt says and added, “it’s designed to strengthen the company’s position in the market and to better service our customers. “Let’s say a customer has been using one of our products for years and years, but now wants to go to, or add another new drawer system. They will now be able to come to the new facility for training and assistance to help them with the transition,” Tratt says. “That’s one of the main reasons why we are doing this, we want to make it better for our customers and provide them with additional service. We can teach them about our new innovations and how to sell them to add value to their operations.”
Blum Canada employs 25 across Canada, just over half work out of the Mississauga offices.
