IWF Atlanta, Aug. 22-25, will feature hundreds of exhibitors.

Organizers of the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) in Atlanta are excited about this year’s event, which will offer even more ways for business to improve, learn and survive.

Patrick LaFramboise, IWF president and CEO, says with business picking up again, visiting this year’s show will be the smartest investment of time and resources because the show will offer the latest in technology, education and networking opportunities.

IWF Atlanta, Aug. 22-25, is the largest exhibition for the industry in the U.S. and LaFramboise says nowhere else in North America “will you find so many solutions for your business … IWF has the most manufacturers and suppliers assembled in one place to help you make your business better.”

The show will feature hundreds of new products, more than 130 first-time exhibitors, new product showcase, more educational sessions, the finalists for the Challenger Award and much, much more.

The Challenger Award, one of the woodworking industry’s highest honors, which will be presented during IWF 2012, recognizes advancements in technology or significant contributions to environmental improvement.

Show organizers have also worked hard with area retailers and the Atlanta hospitality sector to develop discounts on dining, attractions and amenities throughout the city.

“We are ready to put on a great show,” says LaFramboise, “I think everybody is much more optimistic this year than they have been in a long time. The housing market is showing signs of recovering and building permits and the home remodeling market are picking up as well.”

He says people are getting busy again and there is a general feeling of optimism. It goes without saying that a complete recovery will still take some time, but there are many positive signs and new optimism all around. He added that some of the bigger names are returning to the show this year and already they have more than 700 exhibitors signed up with a total - when the show opens - expected to top the 800 mark.

“It’s going to be a strong show and already our exhibitor list reads like a who’s who of the industry,” says LaFramboise and added this is the perfect time to attend the show and get ready for the upswing in business.

“Our industry is recognizing that we have to find new solutions to operate at peak efficiency to improve our bottom line and this show will be able to show woodworking professionals the way through new products, technologies and training opportunities. Now is the time to prepare for the future, to move ahead of the competition and take advantage of new technology and automation.”

Jim Wulfekuhle, IWF’s director of sales, marketing & communications, says registrations for this summer’s IWF are trending ahead of the last show, “which is very good news for us.”

“I am also looking forward to the much-expanded Education Conference running from Tuesday Aug. 21 to Friday, Aug. 24, which will offer a wide variety of symposiums and seminars on everything from lean manufacturing, marketing your company and the latest in materials to green manufacturing and discussions about the pros and cons of outsourcing vs. in-house production. There is a lot of variety, and we really have something for everyone.”
