Opening Keynote presentation by Candice Olson of HGTV
Candice Olson opened KBIS 2012 under the theme of Touch the Future.
Once again KBIS was held at McCormick place in Chicago, Ill. featuring over 500 exhibitors and expecting some 20,000 attendees from around the world. Final attendance numbers were not available at press time.
Thousands of new and improved products and services were on display offering attendees a broad selection to view and discover. This year the conversation shifted away from the products specs and attributes and focused much more on the user and lifestyle benefit considerations.
The centre of the show floor was dedicated to emphasizing the importance of understanding one’s audience in an exhibit called ‘Uncontained’. The exhibit consisted of five twenty foot shipping containers, each featuring a creative perspective on the attributes and values of a unique audience segment. The identified segments are New Hip Home, Forever Fit, Family Mixologist, Culinary Curators and Care Giver.
