Jimmy Zoras, president of Distinctive By Design leads a shop tour.
The Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association held its regional meeting in the Toronto area on June 12.
A morning breakfast and plant tour at Distinctive By Design in Toronto, was followed by lunch and an afternoon of golf at King’s Riding Golf Club. Following a round of golf, members took part in a cocktail reception and the event wrapped up with a dinner and guest speaker at the clubhouse.
Distinctive by Design operates from a 25,000 sq. ft. automated production facility – they also have a 3,000 sq. ft. showroom - and employs a total of 20. CKCA members got a chance to tour the facility and talk to president Jimmy Zoras who started the company in 2003 after first working for his father’s business. Distinctive By Design specializes in custom work for homeowners, the commercial trade and contractors.
Their work “starts with our customer's vision and we add our craftsmanship, the finest materials, personal attention to detail and a unique look suited for our customer's lifestyle.” Everything they do is custom made and hand crafted in Canada with pride.
Distinctive By Design believes that every home has a special character as distinctive and unique as its owners. It all starts with a vision and it is their job to start with a vision, be that the clients’ or the designers’ and then use their craftsmanship and the finest materials to create a dream kitchen for their customers.
In the evening, after a round of golf and dinner at King’s Riding Golf Club just north or Toronto, CKCA members heard from guest speaker Mark Heese.
A 10 times national champion and perhaps best known for winning an Olympic bronze in Atlanta, Heese has inspired thousands of Canadians with his stories about team, personal leadership and goal-setting.
A friend of CKCA vice-president Richard Kaufmann, Heese talked to the CKCA members about his accomplishments and how he achieved them. Afterwards he signed autographs and took pictures with members.
CKCA will meet again in Lethbridge, Alta. on Sept. 25, for the Fall Regional Meeting and the CKCA National Forum is scheduled for Winnipeg, Man. Jan. 31-Feb. 3, 2013.
