HOMAG Canada Inc. was the place to be on Thursday, Oct. 25 when the company held an open house and annual Oktoberfest celebrations at its Mississauga, Ont. offices and showroom. The invitation said to come for the technology and stay for the celebrations, and that is exactly what people did.
“I’m very pleased, it was a very good event, a chance for people to see what HOMAG Canada has to offer the Canadian woodworking sector,” said Christian Vollmers, president HOMAG Canada.
“It was an opportunity to exchange ideas, learn about our equipment and services and an opportunity for some socializing and networking.”
It was also a chance for customers to see the new Ambition 1110F edgebander from BRANDT.
Vollmers said the machine, which introduces premilling and increased flexibility in the category, has been selling well since it's spring introduction (eight were sold in Canada before the container even arrived) and they only managed to keep one on display because a customer agreed to wait a little bit longer for his new machine.
Also on display again and running demonstrations, was the BARGSTEDT storage and retrieval system, which promises intelligent storage and material handling solutions as well as increased productivity.
The daylong open house also featured displays by a number of industry suppliers, and put the spotlight on the many services offered by HOMAG, including its parts and service departments. In addition, there were live demonstrations on a number of other machines including larger edgebanders and CNC machines.
As part of the open house, participants enjoyed traditional German sausages for lunch and in the evening it was time for Oktoberfest celebrations featuring real Oktoberfest sausages, pretzels, drinks and more.
