Dozens attend the opening celebration.

Dozens of woodworking professionals, customers and friends attend the official opening of Felder Group Canada’s expanded Ontario showroom and special open house Oct. 19 and 20 to celebrate the company’s past, present and future.
Felder Group continues to grow and has expanded its facilities - located at 1745 Meyerside Dr., Units 5 & 6 in Mississauga, Ont. - to better serve its customers and all woodworkers who embrace quality and excellence in woodworking machinery.
The company had outgrown its old showroom and offices and expanded from a 5,000 sq. ft. facility to one right next door offering about 8,000 sq. ft.
Felder Group opened its Mississauga location in 2007, but has been in Canada for 11 years. The company has eight regional offices across the country with showrooms in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Hansjörg Felder welcomes everyone.

Company President Hansjörg Felder, who attended the celebrations, said the company wants to be No. 1. “We have a very clear goal and that is to be No. 1 for our customers,” he says.
“We believe in Canada and we want to grow here and the way to do that is to produce high-quality machines and look after your customers. We want to be the best we can be for our customers, we want to grow with them and we are here to support them. We are totally committed to our customers.”
The opening of Felder’s Ontario showroom five years ago coincided with the start of the recession, but since the company had made a commitment to expand in Canada it stuck with that plan.
Felder says since they are a family-held, private company they were able to make that commitment and stick it out rather than close up shop and wait for better times.
Turns out that was the right decision.
Josef Junker, Felder Group’s export manager for Canada and Australia says that as the result of that commitment and thanks to steady growth – they have managed to grow right through the recession.
“I am really proud of what we have accomplished here thanks to our great team,” he says. “They have done an awesome job and we have managed moderate and steady growth and I believe that shows we are on the right track.”
Junker says their goal is for careful expansion with the ultimate goal of being close to all their customers with company-run showrooms and support centres.
With its comprehensive lineup of more than 100 machine types, Felder Group’s range goes from hobby and small business machines (Hammer) to Format-4 industrial machines and includes panel saws, planers, moulders, HYBRID combination machines, edgebanders, CNC machining centres and more.
Felder machines are built to last using heavy-duty cast components and Felder says people appreciate and want that kind of quality. In fact, they are a seeing a trend away from cheap machines as more customers decide they want quality and reliability and choose better machines.
“We can offer our customers that quality and the necessary support,” Felder says. “ And that is our mission, we are committed to produce a quality product and support our customers.”
