Looking ahead to a strong WMS 2013

This year’s show is returning to the International Centre in Mississauga (Toronto).

"I am looking forward to a strong WMS 2013 in Toronto this year," says Steve Reiss, vice president of Vance Communications Canada.
“The industry seems to be showing strength, recent industry events have been successful, and we are building off the foundation of a good 2011 WMS event.”
This year, Canada's premier woodworking event returns to its roots. WMS, which runs Oct. 24-26, will play host to Canada's largest display of woodworking machinery, supplies and services. This year’s show is returning to the International Centre in Mississauga (Toronto), close to Pearson Airport and easily accessible via major highways.
Reiss says the 'new and improved' facility has undergone extensive renovations and upgrades, which will make a big difference to attendees and exhibitors with a new entrance, new halls and lots of convenient, free parking.
"It is a better facility now and meets our needs much better,” Reiss says. “We have larger halls and you no longer have support columns breaking up the space. The ceiling is consistently high and together these changes make for a much better venue for this important event."
WMS will feature a wide selection of woodworking machinery, technology, suppliers, software and services from Canadian and international exhibitors.
While trade shows have changed in the past few years, Reiss says a strong show is a unique and valuable way to bring the industry together. In addition to provide information on products and services, the show gives both attendees and participants a better understanding of what's happening in their industry by connecting them with customers, peers, products, success stories and ideas.
"While products are always a big draw, a show is also about meeting with people in your industry and seeing all the latest and greatest in one place," he says.
The 2011 show exceeded many people's expectations and Reiss says they anticipate the 2013 edition to be much stronger still.

"We just had a fantastic show in the U.S. - The Cabinets & Closets Conference & Expo in Edison, NJ - and that was more proof that the American market is recovering,” Reiss says.
“The Canadian market has always been stronger and we have no doubt that a strong event will be of value to the market. We are working hard to make that happen."
Reiss says they are talking to all the industry's key players and encouraged by the support for the show and early bookings.
WMS 2013 will offer demonstrations of woodworking equipment manufactured by internationally leading players, plus related tooling and software that can help you boost productivity and enhance your bottom line. There will also be a full array of furniture and cabinet supplies, including decorative and functional hardware, board products, adhesives, finishing materials and components.
As well, Reiss says WMS 2013 will offer an extensive education and seminar program with tips and strategies to enable companies to operate smarter and leaner, add value to their products, help them take advantage of online and new media opportunities, and open doors to new markets.
"We are planning a great show. It's the biggest event for the Canadian woodworking industry and we are pleased with the support we are getting including Canada's leading wood products trade associations, publications and educational institutions."
