WMS 2013 off to a strong start

WMS 2013 is open for business.

This year’s edition of the International Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo in Toronto got off to a strong start with good attendance on opening day.
With advance registration running more than 50 per cent ahead and a nearly sold-out event, organizers and exhibitors are looking ahead to a strong show.
And opening day for Canada’s biggest industrial woodworking show did not disappoint with busy aisles right from the opening Thursday morning.
“It was a good first day with lots of serious buyers, reflecting the improving state of the industry,” says Steve Reiss, vice president of Vance Communications Canada, the show organizers.
WMS brings the world's leading players of machinery, tooling and supplies right to the doorstep of the robust Canadian woodworking industry.
“The most common refrain I heard from the many exhibitors I spoke to on Thursday is that their booth traffic was ‘steady.’ They were mostly happy with day 1 and looking forward to an even better day 2,” says Rich Christianson, WMS show director.

Canada’s premier woodworking event has opened its doors for three days to host Canada’s largest display of woodworking machinery, supplies and services.

Organizers expects good things from the event and say the show is designed to help put attendees on the path to a brighter future while helping them meet today’s challenges by offering up Canada’s single best source for education on strategies to operate smarter and leaner, add value to products, help business take advantage of online and new media opportunities, and open doors to new markets.
“We have a larger selection of woodworking machinery and CNC technology than the last time, and most of the industry’s key players are participating including Akhurst, CNC Automation, Felder, WEINIG and HOLZ-HER, IMA/Schelling, Normand Machine, SCM, Superfici, Taurus Craco, and Venjakob,” says Reiss.
“And on the supplier side virtually all the key players are participating as well, including Becker Acroma, Blum, Flakeboard, GRASS, Hettich, McFaddens, Richelieu, Salice, Uniboard and Upper Canada.”
WMS will continue at the International Centre at 6900 Airport Road, near the Toronto Pearson International Airport, Oct. 25 & 26.
