Mike Baker, the former executive director of the Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario, has been named CEO of the organization. This comes with the expansion of the cluster to include all of Ontario and the recent brand change.
“Mike started as manager for the Bluewater Wood Alliance back in 2012,” says Horizon Coatings’ Chris Martin, who is the chair of WMCO’s board of directors.
“At that time there were approximately 25 member companies, and the focus was a small area of Southwestern Ontario.
“Under Mike’s leadership, the cluster has expanded to include the whole province and more than 125 member companies today.”
Martin adds, “this expansion includes the development of programs and services and projects that benefit members and the industry at large. Mike’s responsibilities have gradually increased and have become more complex over time, including the oversight of staff, programs, government relations, and the recent launch of the Wood Supply Chain Group Inc. buying group.
“We are pleased to offer this opportunity to Mike and wish him continued success as he helps to strengthen the value-added wood industry in Ontario.”
