Don't miss open WMCO networking events

The Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario is inviting the industry to two open networking events in June.
It all kicks off on Thursday, June 3 with ‘Government Funding Programs for Wood Manufacturers,’ and then on Thursday, June 17 they’ll have ‘Recruiting & Retaining Talent & Pandemic Challenges in Sales/Purchasing.’
The June 3 event, which starts at noon, looks at wood product manufacturers as prime candidates for a wide variety of federal and provincial government funding programs.
Do you know what funding programs exist that apply to you and your business?
This keynote will educate attendees on specific government grants and funding opportunities to:
- Hire and train employees
- Adopt new technologies
- Perform cutting-edge research and development projects
- Reach export markets and there will of course also be time for Q&A.
Open networking will take place on the Wonder.me platform following Q&A, where participants can share their experiences and best practices accessing government programs and expand their industry contacts.

And then on Thursday, June 17 the discussion centres on ‘Recruiting & Retaining Talent & Pandemic Challenges in Sales/Purchasing.
This one is also open to non-members, so if you are not a WMCO member, this is a great time to see what they’re about and attend a WMCO event.
This is a double-header open online networking event where you can learn about best practices to recruiting & retaining talent as well as ‘The New Rules: Sales and Purchasing during COVID and Beyond.’
In a recent report by the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, 80 per cent of Canadian manufacturers surveyed said they face an immediate labour and skills shortage, which the pandemic has amplified. This session will provide participants with best practices and strategies for effectively addressing recruitment and retention challenges in the manufacturing sector.
Since the onset of the pandemic, there have been significant changes in sales and purchasing. Peter DeGelder from COGS Approach will reflect on the New Rules: Sales and Purchasing during COVID and Beyond.
In addition, there will be WMCO networking breaks.
Open networking will once again take place on the Wonder.me platform. Join them and connect online with fellow members and industry partners to share your experiences and best practices.
