Members, family and friends of the Ontario Chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC) celebrated AWMAC Ontario Awards Gala at the Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto recently.
The event began with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. and then a dinner, which was followed by the awards presentations.
This was the time for the association to recognize and celebrate its members for the excellent work that has been completed
over the last year.
The evening, which set a new attendance record, was a great way to showcase examples of the outstanding workmanship produced my AWMAC members as well as a change to meet the people behind these projects and reconnect with friends and colleagues.
“It was a great privilege to present the Annual AWMAC Ontario Awards Night at the luxurious Fairmont Royal York,” says Nick Anastas, president, AWMAC Ontario Chapter.
“We had a record turnout this year, reinforcing that member engagement is the key to our association’s continuing success. Everyone had a chance to take off the aprons and work boots, set aside our competitive natures and mix, mingle, and celebrate the incredible craftsmanship our industry has to offer.”
Anastas says this year AWMAC Ontario took a whole new approach to the awards.
“There have been some truly incredible projects, and we wanted to properly recognize that. So before nominations even began, our awards subcommittee came back with some new categories, refined some old ones, and for the first time, created Gold and Platinum awards in each category as well as Honourable Mentions.”
All projects were blind judged by a panel consisting of AWMAC inspectors, as well as a national board member from another chapter.
“And these changes now allow us, as a chapter, to properly celebrate and congratulate our great manufacturer and installer members doing the hallmark work that is continually taking everyone’s breath away,” he says.
“And I also want give a huge thank you to all of our sponsors who make these events possible and an even bigger congratulations to the many winners and nominees.”
