Members of Canada’s architectural woodwork community gathered in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan June 5-7, for AWMAC’s National Convention, a dynamic two-day event that brought together manufacturers, suppliers, industry partners, architects and designers from across the country.
Against the backdrop of the stunning Remai Modern, and The ALT Saskatoon, the convention delivered on its promise: to inspire, educate, and connect the people behind Canada’s highest-quality millwork.
As the national voice of architectural woodwork in Canada, AWMAC used this year’s convention to reinforce the value of a connected, standards-driven industry. Delegates left with not just new ideas and tools, but a renewed sense of purpose - and confidence - in the work they do.

Why it matters: The value of gathering as a national industry
More than just a conference, the AWMAC National Convention is a strategic investment in professional development, business success, and industry advancement. For members, it’s a rare opportunity to:
- Gain clarity on evolving standards and specifications
Strengthen business practices and project performance
- Build new partnerships and share lessons across chapters
- Stay at the forefront of design, manufacturing, and leadership trends
- Reconnect with the people who share their passion for quality woodwork
In a time when labour shortages, material pressures, and changing client expectations challenge the industry, AWMAC continues to be a vital source of education, consistency, and advocacy. The 2025 convention made this clearer than ever.

Executive Millwork wins GIS Award of Excellence
The 2024 GIS Award of Excellence was presented to Executive Millwork of the Southern Alberta Chapter for their outstanding work on the BMO Centre Expansion in Calgary, Alberta. This remarkable project, designed by Stantec and built in partnership with PCL Construction, exemplifies the highest standards of architectural woodwork and the collaborative spirit of AWMAC’s GIS program.

Educational programming was a cornerstone of the convention, offering a well-rounded mix of practical, progressive, and people-focused content. Beyond the sessions, attendees had ample opportunity to reconnect and recharge—whether at the opening night welcome reception, the exhibitor showcase, or the always-anticipated President’s Gala, which closed the event with laughter, camaraderie, and a few Oilers cheers.
During the Gala, AWMAC proudly honoured four exceptional individuals - Floyd Ransom, Don Hipperson, Rick Koehn, and Norm Barns - with Lifetime Membership, recognizing their decades of leadership, mentorship, and service to the architectural woodwork industry. Together, they have helped shape the strength, spirit, and standards that continue to define AWMAC.

As always, the convention reflected the collaborative spirit that defines AWMAC: a federation of Chapters united in purpose—to elevate architectural woodwork across Canada through shared standards, professional development, and a deep respect for craft.
A heartfelt thank you to the Saskatchewan Chapter for their warm hospitality and exceptional effort in hosting the 2025 AWMAC National Convention. From start to finish, their dedication, organization, and prairie pride made this year’s event truly memorable.
“This convention reminded us that while tools evolve, the values of quality, collaboration, and community remain constant - and that we don’t just share standards, we share solutions. That’s the power of coming together as a national industry,” said Carolynne Yeomans, AWMAC national executive director.

Looking ahead to 2026
Planning is already underway for the 2026 AWMAC National Convention, which will take place June 11-13, in historic Quebec City.
With a new errata of NAAWS on the horizon, the continued evolution of AWMAC’s GIS program, and an industry that continues to grow and adapt, AWMAC remains committed to providing the education, connections, and advocacy that help its members thrive.

Proudly serving the industry since 1987
