Members, family and friends of the Ontario Chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC) celebrated AWMAC Ontario’s Awards Gala at the Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto recently.
The event began with a cocktail reception and time to reconnect with friends and colleagues and then a dinner, which was followed by the awards presentations.
This was the time for the association to recognize and celebrate its members for the excellent work that has been completed over the last year.
The evening, which set a new attendance record for the chapter, was the perfect way to showcase examples of the outstanding workmanship produced by members.
Nick Anastas, president, AWMAC Ontario Chapter, once again emceed the event and said the fact that the chapter membership as well as attendance at this popular awards ceremony keeps increasing every year, certainly speaks to the success of the association and the guidance from association manager Laurie Suikki.
“Laurie has just marked her 10 year anniversary with us here at AWMAC Ontario and I don’t know how many of you remember, or realize it; but this was a very different organization 10 years ago. We were at make or break point, financially and existentially, Anastas said.
“As we have evolved and grown through this last decade, Laurie has been instrumental in making things work. When the board has an idea, Laurie does the legwork.
“When we’re spit-balling concepts around for how we can reach that next level, how to be that new and better version of AWMAC, how to lead the way at the national level, Laurie does the heavy lifting.
“So from the Board of Directors, from the Chapter, from the entire association, and especially from me: Thank You.”
