From June 9-11, AWMAC (Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada) members from across Canada flocked to Osoyoos in BC’s Okanagan Valley to take part in the 2011 National Convention. The BC Chapter hosted this year’s event and chose the beautiful Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort as the venue.
The three day agenda was packed with educational seminars including the official launch of the SAW Certification Program – an AWMAC driven industry initiative to ensure an environmentally sustainable marketplace (see Woodworking’s May/ June 2011 issue for more details), a small trade show and of course the Annual General Meeting. Part of the official meeting procedures was the election of the 2011 board of directors. In addition to the official business items the convention planners offered a variety of networking opportunities and some outstanding social events and activities showcasing the area. From a golf tournament to wine tours, a social outing for every taste was part of this year’s convention. To view a photo album of the convention visit awmac.com
