If you think you have what it takes to be a cabinet maker, why not take part in the 2012 Apprenticeship Contest
offered by the Ontario chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada.
This year’s event will be held at the Humber Centre for Trades and Technology in Toronto.
There is a $20 registration fee that will be refunded to contestants on the day of the competition. The competition is limited to 10 contestants on a first come, first served basis.
The first place winner will receive $500 with second and third place finishers receiving $250 and $100 respectively.
Registration deadline is March 15.
The contest offers contestants a chance to show off their woodworking skills and compete with their peers for cash prizes and get their name known in the industry.
The winning project from the Ontario event will automatically be sent to AWMAC’s National Convention where it will be judged for a national award.
The contest is open to apprentices and or recent graduates.
Each competitor will receive drawings and instructions one week on advance of the contest.

Eligibility
1. The contest is open to all apprentices and/or recent graduates.
2. An apprentice who graduates prior to the date of the contest (held between January and March) must participate in a contest within one year and will not be eligible in future events.
3. All apprentices and/or recent graduates may not compete more than three times in the National AWMAC Apprenticeship Contest, and shall be limited to three consecutive years of participation only.
4. Individuals that are not involved in an apprenticeship, due to a formal program not being available in their area, and have no more than 4 years experience in the industry may also participate.
