Alan Smart

For Alan Smart integrity was the cornerstone of his business success.
He arrived in Canada in 1952 as a tool and die maker from Scotland, but found his calling as a business owner and consummate sales person.
His company, Smart & Godin, sold the first HOMAG edgebander in Canada in 1963.
This started a successful relationship with this German machine manufacturer that culminated in the incorporation of HOMAG Canada in 1976.
Alan worked actively in the business until 2009 and maintained a close connection and keen interest in the industry through his son Ian.
Alan Smart passed away peacefully on May 28, 2018 in Burlington, Ont.

Proudly serving the industry since 1987
