CKCA's Halifax Regional Event will feature four plant tours.

The Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association’s fall Regional Event in Halifax, N.S. will offer a great mix of education, plant tours and a chance for networking with fellow industry professionals.
Taking place Sept. 23-24, the regional will be based at Hotel Halifax in Halifax and CKCA will provide transportation for all plant tours and off-site events.
Participants are welcome to drive their own vehicles, but why not hop on the bus instead; it’s a great chance to talk to friends and colleagues.
The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. on Monday with registration and coffee before the first tour at Genuine Kitchens in Dartmouth. Locally owned and operated since 2007, Genuine Kitchens takes pride in offering high standards on both traditional contemporary designs.
Then it’s off to tour Cabinetworks Ltd., also in Dartmouth. Cabinetworks has been building cabinets ranging from starter homes to dream homes since 1983 and thrives on delivery, creativity, value and service.
Following the tours participants will head back to the hotel for the official welcome by CKCA President Mike Slobodian and a lunch break.
In the afternoon keynote speaker Andrew Tremblay, the market development manager for FSC, the Forest Stewardship Council, will speak about sustainability and changing consumer demands in his presentation “Creating Opportunities for Canadian Manufacturers.”
The third plant tour will visit Lake City Works in Dartmouth. The company has been taking plastic garbage off the street and transforms into milled plastic wood products that can withstand the Atlantic weather. This will be an amazing tour that will inspire you to think outside the box.
In the evening there is a tour of Alexander Keith’s and dinner at the Atlantic Beer Institute.
Following breakfast on Tuesday, participants will travel to Nova Wood Products in picturesque Lunenburg for their fourth shop tour. Nova Wood Products has been manufacturing and installing quality millwork and custom casework since 1972.
Following lunch and a yet-to-be announced speaker, the meeting will adjourn at 1:15 p.m.
However, manufacturing members will stay for the popular Manufacturer’s Roundtable event.
