The Wood Machine Manufacturers of America have issued the following notice to its members.
“The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) sent this note out late yesterday with some updates on COVID response and state actions in determining essential workforce designations. The Department of Homeland Security listed the wood products sector as essential in guidance it released late last week, but the document lacks precision with regard to our specific sector. Moreover, a few states initially ignored this guidance and moved forward with more stringent forced business closure plans.
“The note below from NAM includes an email portal for manufacturers to weigh in with DHS explaining why their operations should be considered essential during this crisis. We encourage WMMA members to take a minute to email DHS to describe the importance of your facilities to the overall manufacturing supply chain and why we should be considered life-sustaining infrastructure. The DHS email is CISA.CAT@cisa.dhs.gov.
“Please let us know if you need additional information. We are on top of Congressional negotiations on a stimulus package and will provide an analysis to you as soon as a deal materializes.”
