C.R. Onsrud broke ground on March 1, for the construction of its new 67,000 sq. ft. building. This addition will bring the C.R. Onsrud manufacturing campus up to 225,000 sq. ft. The company says the new construction will house production of their larger machines as well as additional offices.
"We feel very fortunate to be in a position of growth and opportunity, investing in the future of manufacturing, and the positive impact this has on the people in our local community,” said CEO Tom Onsrud.
“And I think our customers will be pleased, because now we'll have the space to make more machines — especially the large ones — and ship them out faster.”
This new construction is part of a multi-phase expansion project that includes a 9,900 sq. ft expansion of the existing machine shop along with purchase of new equipment to increase production capacity. The expansion is currently in its final stages with the new equipment being installed. This project represents a $17 million reinvestment into the business for the new building, expansion and equipment.
The company expects this investment will add another 50 - 100 positions to its vertically integrated manufacturing headquarters in the Town of Troutman. Currently, C.R. Onsrud employs approximately 200 people, from welders, machinists, painters, product assemblers to engineers, sales and administrative staff.
“With the huge demand for manufacturers to produce more faster, our CNC machine tool manufacturing business has boomed. We need the floor space, and I'm really looking forward to growing our team,” said Onsrud. “A company is nothing without its people."
The new building is expected to be completed during Q2 of 2024.
Since 1976, from their factory in Troutman, C.R. Onsrud has designed and engineered advanced CNC machining solutions for a wide range of industries, including aerospace, marine, woodworking, composites, amongst many other industries.
